About this app
Explore Indigenous territories, treaties, languages and communities with Whose Land. Use the interactive map, search for a place or Nation, or choose your current location to learn more about the land around you. Browse community information, Indigenous businesses, residential and boarding school locations, leadership stories and territories by city. Learn through educational videos, frequently asked questions and lesson plans. Explore land acknowledgement resources, create a personal draft, and share information with others. Whose Land 3.0 brings a redesigned native experience to iPhone and iPad, with English and French interfaces, dark mode, accessible text and controls, and faster search using saved place results and local postal-code data. Recently accessed content is cached for reuse; an internet connection is needed for content that has not been saved and for online media. Whose Land is an educational starting point for learning, dialogue and further research. Mapped areas are approximations and do not represent definitive or legal boundaries. Data sources and credits are available in the app.
What's new
Version 3.1.1 · Nov 4, 2026
Whose Land 3.1.1 adds support for iPhone Duo and refines the map experience on every device. • iPhone Duo support: the map stays full screen as you open and close the device, keeping your place, selection and open details. • The Explore panel now opens with search. Swipe down to tuck it away to just the search bar, then swipe up to pick up where you left off. • Map controls use standard iOS toolbars and stay clear of the panel in portrait and landscape. • The map opens on an overview of Canada. • Places you select from search stay in view as the panel moves. • Shared links now use whose.land. • A refreshed turtle logo and better readability in dark mode.
