Cipherfern

Cipherfern is a quiet word puzzle bound like an old botanical almanac. Each puzzle hides a quote from a classic author. Every letter is replaced by a number, the same number everywhere in the puzzle. Above the quote sit a few key words with short definitions. Guess a key word, type its letters, and every cell with the same numbers fills in, in the key words and in the quote. Word by word, the quote reads itself. HOW IT PLAYS - Tap a cell, then a letter on the in-app keyboard - A letter goes into every cell that carries the same number - Spaces and punctuation are visible from the start - A wrong letter costs nothing; the same letter on two numbers is underlined - Undo is always free - Three stars without Check or hints, two with up to two, one for any finish EVERY QUOTE READS ONE WAY Each puzzle is checked by the game's own solver: with the key words solved, the quote has exactly one reading. Open any leaf to read its quote again, offline. CLASSIC WORDS The quotes come from public-domain writers such as Emerson, Thoreau, Chesterton, Wilde, Twain, La Rochefoucauld, Shakespeare and Austen, together with old proverbs. Every quote names its author. The definitions of the key words are written for the game. COINS Earn coins by reading quotes for the first time, by earning three stars and with the Daily Leaf. Spend them on Check, which marks wrong letters, on Reveal letter and Reveal word, or on paper and frames for the board. Coin packs are optional purchases. Every quote can be read without spending a single coin.
