About this app

Model Communicator (MoCo) is a free, robust AAC app designed by Kara Cotter, MS CCC-SLP and Jim Tyler, MS. CTO. Keep an eye out for additional grid sizes, vocabulary updates, and new features coming soon. FEATURES - Robust vocabulary set with even mix of core and fringe vocabulary - Topic-based organization includes specific nouns, verbs, and adjectives all within the same folders - Consistent placement of core vocabulary throughout each topic folder to preserve motor planning - Synonym suggestions and grammatical forms available across the system PRIVATE BY DESIGN MoCo runs fully offline. No analytics, no tracking, and no account. The camera and microphone are used only by the editing tools, when you add a photo or record a sound for a tile, and that content stays on the iPad. A friendlier start: the first launch now walks you through who the board is for, the button size, pictures, the voice and the speaking choices. You can run it again any time from Settings. Settings in plain language, with a search box and links to our guides, privacy policy and about pages. Press and hold a word in the message bar to swap it for another form (I is going becomes I am going) or to remove it. Three next-word ideas by default, shown beside the message. Longer messages wrap onto more lines. Period button: tap for a period, press and hold for ! ? and comma. Shift shows capital letters on the keyboard. Target words for the black-and-white board can be taken straight from the message bar. A fresh MoCo look with stronger contrast, and labels that always fit their buttons. Your boards, edits and profiles carry over from the previous version automatically. Smaller download.
