About this app

TrailTool lets you create your own maps directly on your device using publicly available OpenStreetMap data. Whether you're planning your next adventure or exploring the outdoors, you can keep your maps up to date and access them anytime, even without an internet connection. Your privacy matters. All recorded tracks, saved locations, and other personal data remain on your device. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud, so you stay in control of your data. MAIN FEATURES • GPS Tracking and Waypoints: Record GPS tracks and mark points of interest, whether you're planning a trip or exploring in the field. • Create Your Own Maps: Import OpenStreetMap PBF files and generate map datasets directly on your device. Choose between native-language place names (default) and English labels. • Data Format Support: Import OpenStreetMap PBF files and exchange data using GeoJSON/JSON and GPX formats. • Easy Data Sharing: Share maps, tracks, and points of interest between devices using AirDrop or standard iOS sharing options. • Offline Access: View maps, tracks, and saved locations without an internet connection. TrailTool also works on devices without built-in GPS, such as Wi-Fi-only iPads. You can use these devices to plan trips, explore maps, and review existing tracks and points of interest. Maps and other data can easily be transferred between devices using AirDrop. MAP DATA TrailTool includes a sample map and a sample OpenStreetMap PBF file to help you get started. For additional map data, visit the OpenStreetMap website or select About → Additional Data… within the app. Whether you're hiking, traveling, or exploring new destinations, TrailTool gives you the freedom to create, manage, and use your own maps wherever your adventures take you.
