Chorus Reader 3.2 • Words light up as they're read. The page highlights each word in step with the narration: Standard voices time every word exactly, and Personal and Premium voices are timed from the audio. Chinese highlights a character at a time. • Chinese. Standard voices now read Mandarin, with eight voices to choose from. • Chorus starts reading within seconds of your tap and narrates the rest of the book while you listen. The setup screen now says so: the buttons read "Listen…" and "Start Listening", and the time shown is when the whole book will be finished. • The voice picker names the model behind each tier: Standard is Kokoro-82M, Personal is Pocket TTS by Kyutai, and Premium is Chatterbox Turbo by Resemble AI. FULLY VOICED • The voices you choose on the cast screen are the voices you hear. • Each line stays in its speaker's voice, including long quotes, quotes that run across paragraphs, and the « » quotes and dialogue dashes of French and Spanish books. Narration stays in the narrator's voice. • Fully Voiced works out who is speaking far more often, and the cast list is made of characters, not titles like "Mr" or words that start a sentence. • No long pause between a line and the "she said" after it. • Finding a book's cast takes about a second, even for a long novel. • Stopping and resuming picks up at the same line. • Characters speak the narrator's language: a French narrator's characters get French voices. STANDARD VOICES • Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Hindi use Chorus's own pronunciation engine. Nasal vowels are now pronounced (the ã in "mãe", the on in "bon"), and numbers are read in the book's language instead of in English. • French: nouns and adverbs ending in -ent keep their vowel ("souvent", "torrent"), and more spellings are read the French way. • Portuguese: abbreviations such as Srs., Exmo. and V. Ex. are read as words. • A very long paragraph, common in Hindi books, is now read instead of skipped. • No click at the end of each passage. • The last word before a pause is no longer cut short. • Sentences are no longer rushed. PERSONAL VOICES • French, Spanish, German, Italian and Portuguese voices read numbers in the book's language instead of in English. • French lines of dialogue are read from their first word. A "!" or "?" inside a line, or the dash or « » it opens with, made the voice skip its first words. • The English voices start sooner after the app opens, and no longer leave a copy of their model in the app's storage each time they load. PREMIUM VOICES • Four voices were listed as men but are women's readings. They are now listed as women and renamed Alana, Alexis, Andrea and Carina (they were Alan, Alex, Andrew and Carn). OTHER • Settings is regrouped into Premium, Narration, Library, Help and About, and iCloud sync has a page of its own. On the Mac, Settings has General, Sync and About tabs. • Settings → About Chorus Reader → Acknowledgements credits the source and licence of every voice. • A narration left unfinished in an earlier version goes on without skipping lines. If its voice now reads numbers in the book's language where it read them in English, it keeps its audio up to the passage you are in, or up to its first number if that comes later, and narrates the rest again. • The app is about 300 MB smaller: a model file it never used is gone. • Fixed a crash that could happen while a Standard voice was reading.
