About this app
A kingfisher drops into the reeds, and by the time you've found a pen it's gone. Fieldnote is a pocket notebook for moments like that: point, tap, and the sighting is kept, even where your phone shows no signal at all. Capture Take a photo or pick a few from your library. Give it a title, or leave it blank and Fieldnote writes one from the species and place. Tap tags such as Birds, Plants or Insects, and jot what you noticed on ruled notebook lines. GPS pins the spot without mobile data, and any place you name is recognised the next time you're there. When you have a minute, add details: species with autocomplete and Latin names, how many you saw, habitat, weather and temperature. Anything unfinished is kept as a draft on its own. Entries Read your days back as a timeline, find them on a map (a hand-drawn sketch map takes over when there's no connection), or browse a calendar where each day shows its first photo. Search notes, species and places, and filter by date, tag, place or collection. Collections Clip entries together into walks, trips, seasons or places. One entry can belong to several collections and always stays in your timeline. Share and keep Turn an entry into an image card or a PDF page, or export a printable PDF journal, a species spreadsheet (CSV), photos with notes grouped by date, or a full Fieldnote backup you can restore later. Shared photos have their location removed, and nests or rare finds can be blurred to about 10 km. Gentle reminders, all on the device: finish a draft, revisit "on this day", or a weekend walk nudge. There's no account, no cloud and no tracking. Your journal lives on this iPhone, behind Face ID if you choose.
