About this app

**License plates as anonymous mailboxes.**Lights left on. A car blocking the driveway. A window open in the rain. You can see the plate — @plate lets you reach the person behind it, without either of you giving out a phone number. **Message any car by its plate.** Tap the yellow scan button, point it at a plate, pick what's wrong, and send. If the owner is on @plate, it reaches them straight away. If not, it waits for them — and you can invite them with a link. **Messages about your car come to you.** Register your plate and reply in a thread, with a tap or in your own words. The conversation closes itself after a while, and "Not my car" closes one meant for someone else. Nobody sees your number; nobody sees theirs. **Leave a note on your plate.** "Back in five." "Call the building if I'm blocking you." Anyone who looks your plate up reads it before they write. Set it for an hour, a day, or keep it up. **Remember where you parked.** Pin your spot and your car is on the map and on your Lock Screen, with the street-cleaning schedule for that block. Share it with the people on that plate, or keep it to yourself. Run it from Shortcuts, Control Center, or automatically when your phone disconnects from CarPlay. **Hear about a ticket first.** Verify your plate and @plate tells you when the city issues it a citation. **Your block, on a map.** See what's being reported near you — parking complaints from SF 311 and tickets from SFMTA, public data from the city, drawn where it happened. **Parking groups.** A lot, a street, a building: whoever runs it makes a group, neighbors link their cars, and anyone in the group can check whether a car belongs — without learning who owns it. Announcements go to everyone; replies go privately to whoever runs it. A group link opens straight into an App Clip, so neighbors can join before they've installed anything. **Built for privacy.** Your number is never shown to anyone. A message carries the block it was sent from, rounded to about a hundred meters — never your exact spot. A parked spot is kept only as the latest one, only for the people on that plate, and deleted when you head out or after 14 days. Photos are checked before they're stored. A registration document, if you verify a plate, is read once and never kept. Download everything we hold about you, or delete your account, from Settings.

What's new

Version 2.2.0 · Nov 2, 2026

A new @plate, built around the map. - Your block, first. The map is the home screen; your messages and your groups slide up over it. - Scan from anywhere. The yellow button reads a plate and gets you to a message in a tap. - Pin your parking spot. Your car goes on the map and on your Lock Screen, with street cleaning for that block, shared only with the people on that plate. Run it from Shortcuts or Control Center, or automatically when your phone leaves CarPlay. - Away messages. Leave a note on your plate ("back in five", or a standing one), and anyone who looks it up reads it before they write. - Ticket alerts. A verified plate tells you when the city issues it a citation. - Groups that talk. Whoever runs a group can send it an announcement, and members can answer them privately. - Quiet hours, and a "Not my car" button that closes a message meant for someone else. - Join without the app. A group link or a co-owner invite opens an App Clip: sign in, join, done.
